The club's first trip to Iceland in December 2017 just months after initial founding.

It all started with a chance encounter my freshman fall while waiting in the line for a ride in a hot air balloon on the Dartmouth Green (our quad). I was just starting the wild ride of the first week of College when I met Kevin Yang '20 (pictured second from the left in the first photo). We hit it off and bonded over our love of photography and its immense ability to convey story. I was shocked to discover that Dartmouth did not already have a club dedicated to exploring the art and science of photography. From there, the bond was formed and later that term, Dartmouth had a new club with over 50 active members actively sharing their love for photography.

In just a few weeks, we were able to gather enough signatures to found the club, secure $3,000 in initial funding for supplies, and plan a trip to Iceland for winter break. Kevin and I ended up co-leading a 10 day trip across Iceland photographing the Northern Lights and Icelandic landscapes. It was an incredible journey to remember. Since then, we have built a collective portfolio for photographers in the Dartmouth community and set up workshops led by professional photographers to teach fundamentals and share their stories.
